Be brave enough to be bad at something new
Once Upon A Time.
First, welcome to my Substack. I am so glad you are here.
I have been looking for a way to share my writing since I disbanded my last blog around 2019. I had started writing a book in my spare time which as a serial entrepreneur meant I seemed to be putting it down more than writing on it. Several friends encouraged me to look into Substack, and while on sabbatical last year, I finally had the time. I created my account last fall with the intention of launching it in 2024.
Wouldn’t you know it, here we are.
So with knees knocking, here I go.
My Why.
I am launching this space to have a place to stretch as a writer. Prior to this year, writing has always been something squeezed in where and when I could find the time. In 2024, writing will now have top billing in my day. What can I accomplish, and ultimately share with others, if I give writing my focus and energy? That is the question I intend to answer this year.
Community.
I hope to build a community here around the mindset that we are all evolving, every day. We all have questions. We are all learning. We are all stretching ourselves as we reach for something…and sometimes we don’t know yet what that something is.
I am going to write about failure, mental health, counseling, entrepreneurship, storytelling, planning a day to planning a life, travel, and so much more.
I also will publish my first book in 2024 so I plan to share that process as I learn what it is like to go from something in my head to a book in your hands. Yikes!
Expectations.
If you have ever wondered what my office (or brain for that matter) looks like, the photo below gets scary close. I have a lot of words rumbling around in my head, and since I was a little girl, writing was how I made sense of them - processed them - and ultimately used them whether it was creating a daily schedule, writing thank you notes, longhand letters (and emails), completing my schoolwork, or just jotting down my musings.
With that, I will be posting at a minimum weekly here, but there will be stretches where I can imagine me posting daily. As I spend more time here, I will work to develop a posting schedule.
I would love if you would share my Substack with your friends, family, or anyone you believe would enjoy it. Click the link below to share:

Thank you for joining me here on this new adventure. I promise that I will NOT be perfect, but I will be transparent as I learn.
The best is yet to come.
